How to do incline lateral raises

  1. Lie on your side on the incline bench holding a dumbbell.
  2. Raise the weight laterally keeping your arm almost straight.
  3. Lift to shoulder height with control.
  4. Lower slowly.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Don't raise your shoulder to your ear.
  • Avoid swinging your torso.
  • Don't use dumbbells so heavy you lose control.

Progression

  • Build reps up to 15 before adding weight. Add a 1-2 second pause at the top.
